The Inuit hunter collecting eggs on a crumbling cliff using the world's dodgiest rope was pretty impressive, too.  Especially when you compared it to what the camera crew used.

Troughton's Doctor was pretty much protecting humans from themselves, while helping them to defeat the monster of the week.  Fury from the Deep is worth a listen (as only the audio survives completely) as a particularly spooky story of seaweed-with-a-heartbeat.  Monsters remain misunderstood and better off dead.
