i get the feeling that part of the reason so few people are posting over at the dissolve is because they don't like new disqus. i don't think there'll be mass migrations/disappearances from the av club, as most of the folks who post here really love this site. me? i'm kinda wavering on the subject. i don't post all

i gave up on him after planet terror.

i'm sorry i offended you. i was a kid once too and i totally remember what it's like to get upset beyond all proportion when you see something you disagree with. at some point when you become an adult, you'll realize that it's not especially productive to invest so much

seriously? did i miss something? are you related to nic cage? holy fuck. i honestly cannot imagine being an adult and getting riled up because someone says something dopey about a famous person who wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire in his front yard. jesus. grow

i don't hate him. i just think he is a terrible actor. in no way do i wish any ill upon the man.

the important thing to remember here is that the oscars are a great big steaming load of shit and you really should not give a flying fuck regarding who wins one or not. seriously. nic cage has one for best actor. how worthwhile can it be to win an oscar after something like that happens?

unlike everyone else in this thread, i'm willing to confirm your suspicion that the longer version of death proof is indeed not all that great. i genuinely enjoyed the version that played in theaters. the (nearly) 2-hour version made me sleepy.

hey everybody! it's a.a. dowd's OTHER disqus account!

in his case, yes.

it's not that i can't get over it. it's more that it defines you in my book as a b-sider. the type who thinks that consensus is ALWAYS wrong. that to me is as much of a dead end as the kind of chowderheaded thinking that leads people to believe that things are good solely because they're popular.

i'm guessing birth control was employed during post-date sex.

^ [opinion can be ignored, as poster also thinks ocean's 12 is one of soderbergh's best movies]

yeah, that was roughly the response i had. i remember it pretty well and really enjoyed (maybe that's not the exact right word?) it, but i also can't imagine watching it again.

yeah, i'd agree about the dern-eastwood crap. i also remember some of the stuff between costner and the kid being a bit overextended as well, the climax especially.

this gimmick has always sucked.

it is the saddest sounding party song i have ever heard.

actually, he did it all for the nookie.

i love JFK. of course, it's not a movie that one can take seriously as history, but on cinematic terms it's fucking brilliant.

couldn't they get a mention of twerking in there somewhere?

"that's what she said!"
