I agree with your take on the book passages, and they're interesting enough to not be tedious.
I think the narrator cynically notes that a lot of the hype came from the mythology surrounding the "author," and not necessarily the quality of the book.

…huh.
So I was really thinking more of a never-to-be-fulfilled fantasy sort of way. That ultimately results in me having better sex with a person I'm actually dating.
Thanks for putting that in perspective, though.
Fine! It's not like I was actually working.
Here we go:

Yeah! That's the same interview I was thinking of, where he doesn't know if they could be friends anymore after this.
@avclub-6c6094f256f51e83fe02bce6091163e7:disqus I think that was also from this interview, but I remember it the other way around, with Elfman saying the process of making 3 blockbuster movies had…
Mmm, Danny Elfman, especially Oingo Boingo-era.
Eh even though he's old enough to be my dad, I'd still strap him between a couple sawhorses and have my way with him.
I thought it was Spiderman3.
I think I had read an interview with him around that time, where he alluded to interference from the studio, and all the pressure they were putting on Sam Raimi to make another blockbuster, without really getting into specifics.
Yow, he's really a ginger.
I'll show him the mettle of my posture.
Ooh! Better! Logan Echolls and Weevil Scam Authority Figures and Beat On Dudes
Up top @sdelmonte:disqus refers to Jake Kane's transformation into Lex Luthor, but I think he's more apparently supposed to be echoing Howard Hughes. He's clearly been "affected" by traumatic events.
I understand his hatred of Veronica, who is associated with, if not responsible for the dissolution of his family, and…
Yeah, I probably love Angel Dust more, but King tends to help me accept the horrible shit life has dealt me.
For example:
"…are oddly reminiscent of Ryan Adams, or of Wainwright’s own father, Loudon."
Yeah my analogy was, Tara's death was like the death of a friend of My Friend. She seemed ok and I felt kinda bad, but it didn't really impact me directly.
But Fred's death was like My Friend dying.
Also because Fred is the one good, pure, and relatively innocent character.
But those people die too, often in a way they don't deserve, and there's nothing anyone can do about it. If that's not a Whedonesque theme, I don't know what is.

wwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Well, Aang mostly learned about the avatar state from the spirits of the previous avatars, after entering it accidentally.
Since this is included in the part of Korra's training that she's particularly deficient in, I would guess at most she's been instructed to try and avoid entering it if possible. No one besides…
That theory's been tossed around these here comment boards, yeah.
