Geez, without Zack complaining about the Prophets, I don't have an easy point to write about.  Ah, well, I guess I'll just talk about "Past Prologue".  Watching this episode again, I found myself struck with disappointment that Tahna Los was simply lying and scheming the whole way through.  Given DS9's willingness to

If we're doing this, from Whattheflick:

Don't get me wrong, "Duet" is great, but it seems very similar to the (in my opinion) superior "The Wire" and "Ties of Blood and Water."

Is it wrong that my favorite moment in all three episodes is O'Brien expounding on his love for emergency rations?

Um, season 2 opens with a great three episode arc.

I had never connected the two together, but the moment I read that it totally fell into place!  Always with the learning, A.V. Club.

Good to know, DeafPoet.

It came out perfectly.

This has been mentioned elsewhere, but I'll address it here.  Garak's supposed "camp" comes from the fact that Robinson was playing him, initially, as "omnisexual," which he was later asked to dial back.  A shame, really, given that it would've added another layer to such a wonderful onion of a character.

Sounds about right, Lurky.

That's one of the quotes I wrote down when I was watching this.  A casual reference to political violence in the pilot episode seems to me one of many elements throughout "Emissary" that are highly suggestive of the different character of this series compared to its forebears.

Word up.  I've always gotten into TV Club reviews too late to be part of the commenting, but I knew I couldn't make that mistake with DS9.

Forgetting about him is exactly what Garak wants us to do . . .

The Visitor?  I remember that being nothing special, but it's been a looong time since I last watched through this series (another reason I'm excited about this).

Much obliged, Khanthrok.

Thinking back, the first episodes of BSG that I watched were in the latter half of the third season, and with all Baltar's facial hair, I think I genuinely thought they were the same actor for a while.

Yeah, I can't really separate my HUGE crush on Nicole de Boer from my objective opinions, but Jadzia is probably the better character, though both strike me as the two characters in the series who most fail to live up to their potential.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

All of those are great, but I think they are also demonstrative of one of TNG's greatest weaknesses, namely that the show was better the more it focused on Picard to the exclusion of everyone else (yes, there are exceptions to this, but as a general rule I think it holds true).

That it is.  Makes me want to watch B5 just so that I can purposefully be a hater.
