I think this is the appropriate place for me to point out that the Genesis Planet  featured in Star Trek 2 & 3 was formed from the matter found in the Nebula that the final battle takes place in. The rocky moon is from a simulation video that Kirk, Spock and Bones watch in Kirk's quarters.
