I AM A WRITER OF LITERATURE

I've always seen DFW and Franzen as being like two players on a basketball team. DFW is the freakishly talented prodigy who skips all the practices and is still a beast at every game, and Franzen is the quiet, resentful guy with a chip on his shoulder who spends every day and night practicing but will never quite

Album of the year, fact:
"Love King," The-Dream.

Oh God, "American Bandstand" - with, if I recall correctly - "Late For the Sky" playing in the background. Murderously sad.

"Automatic For the People" is the motto of a comfort food restaurant in Athens, GA.

I go for Burial, too - I usually only listen to the first half of Untrue, up to "Endorphin." Then it gets all cheery.

"Sing Me Spanish Techno" is the best song. Not the best New Pornographers song, the best song.

No love for "These Are The Fables"? If ever there's been a real weeper from the New Pornographers, that's it. It's got a kind of spectral, impressionistic quality that somehow manages to evoke a feeling of raw, aching nostalgia for nothing in particular.

Oh man. I love "O'Malley's Bar" and the previously-mentioned fuckin' really big brick-sized ashtray, but I'd be pretty pissed if someone put it on in a bar. If you're going to play a Murder Ballads track in a bar, you go with "Song of Joy."

If he died in Memphis, that'd be cool…
But it was not to be. What a massive talent. He'll be sorely missed.

WAAAAAAAARRRRRRFIGHTER

Agreed. The only bit I really dug in "Eating the Dinosaur" was the last one about Ted Kaczynski.
