They just shut down today's matinee, it will go back on tonight. I bet the cast is nervous.

I agree with Battlecar. There are a lot of funny things on this thread and from others around the internet "Can he swing/from a thread/no, he can't, now he's dead" is funny, but there comes a time when people repeatedly getting hurt for the sake of entertainment just isn't the barrel of laughs that it used to be. A

She doesn't want to talk about it.

Oh, hi Larry. Oh, hi so not a nerd.

Garbo Talks is now my favorite person on the AV Club.

Well said!

Fail
I thought it was a terrible episode, and for the first time this season I would have given SNL an F. The monologue was the only good part of the show. Did anyone notice that for the full first hour there was only ONE original bit (the crazy audition lady)? Everything else was based on something they had done

Keith doesn't really strike me as the "manager" type that you would need to successfully organize a multi million dollar enterprise like the Stones. And while they haven't made a record that was great from beginning to end probably since Tattoo You, there is still some great music on their recent albums. Moon Is Up,

Okay, I'll be the nerd on the puppet thread…

I think they would have if it had been a hit. I would have been interested in seeing Restaurant visualized, that would have been a lot of special effects.

That's a hell of an endorsement!

Horrible Nameless One - I think you mean "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" by Cliff "Ukulele Ike" Edwards a.k.a. the voice of Jiminy Cricket in Disney's "Pinocchio".

I agree, he had some of the few truly edgy characters in the last few years. When he asked Gabourey Sidibe for her "black hand in marriage", that was right on the line of tastelessness. I always like him and he'll be missed. He wasn't used enough.

Yeah, it's impossible to believe that they have all those writers but no one is offering up fresh ideas and new characters. I believe that they are writing smart & funny sketches, but those ideas get squished in favor of tired repeating characters and the same old talk show/game show parodies because of the awful

As I remember, that whole episode was funny. I'd love to see it again.

No Godzilla?
The 1998 nGodzilla teaser trailer 2, the old guy fishing on the dock, was better than the whole movie!

Here's hoping Dan Aykroyd & Justin Timberlake co-host when Yogi Bear comes out, it might actually be good!

Sketches that get laughs during the first pitches usually go on to get chosen since they impress the host. But since the room is filled with writers, laughing at someone else's pitch lessens the chance that their own pitch will get chosen. If the pitch isn't chosen, or if it is and the sketch gets cut, it will be

Bad first episode
The review was pretty much spot on, and so are most of the comments. Unfortunately, it should have been a C, because it will likely get worse once fatigue sets in. Prepare for a lot of D-'s and F's in the coming months. Actually, the show will probably get so bad that we will jump on anything

Exactly. I get the feeling that casting of the females is based more on attractiveness than anything else.
