Yeah, that's the way I'd do it. The couple months I've really considered it, the books were already checked out — presumably to someone else in the group. It's a hard balance because I wouldn't necessarily want to read the typical book club books that libraries buy 10 copies of specifically for that purpose, but I

Wow. I was just reminded by another newswire post that one of them was Kanye. I honestly don't know how that slipped my mind so easily.

At least Jimmy seems aware of this and keeps his monologues short. I'm a big sucker for, and prefer, many of his viral video-ready bits anyway.

A little all over the place — from what I can tell, the narrator has a very overactive imagination, so the first scene keeps repeating itself to varying degrees of preposterousness — but so far I dig it! I've been taking work home with me a lot, so my evenings haven't been free to advance very far, sadly.

I kinda-sorta watched last night's. I've been watching Jimmy Fallon since it's actually sort of on early enough for me now, so in comparison, Seth Meyers' tone for the monologue actually works for me, and seems much stronger. I think his Weekend Update experience helps in this regard. I must have started getting

I would be all for that! So hopefully some people in your book club are.

I just started number9dream by David Mitchell because The Voorman Problem, an Oscar-nominated short with Martin Freeman, said it was based on an excerpt from it. I started but never advanced very far in Cloud Atlas, so if all goes well, this will be my first Mitchell.

I hope we get more of her in the next 5 episodes, because I find her just so charming. I'm in danger of feeling unsatisfied at the end, no matter how they wrap it up, just because I want more Cristin Milioti.

I knew this show relied on callbacks and convoluted plots and all before. But I didn't REALLY realize to what extent until last night, when my roommate walked in while Ted was eating the bacon and asked what was going on (I'm not sure she's ever watched the show? or at least it's been awhile since she followed it) and

OK so after reading the first 20 or so pages…I can't decide what I think. I'm definitely drawn in, though. We'll see how it comes together and progresses going forward.

Thousand Autumns of Jacob DeZoet was on the shelf right next to it, so I grabbed that too. And Cloud Atlas has long been waiting on my nook. Maybe I'll make a three-book run of it! We'll see how that goes.

Unfortunately I haven't started it yet, since the rest of yesterday was mostly taken up by a Downton Abbey catch-up. I can give my initial impression after lunch today, though! I haven't read Cloud Atlas yet, or anything else by him. I hope number9dream isn't a bad one to start with.

Oscar Shorts!

Ah yes, the TV edit of Breakfast Club. That one was my first thought. My favorite is the substitution of "Eat my socks" for "Eat my shorts."

Ooh, I also finished Orphan Black this weekend! I just posted my brief thoughts, and they mostly are similar to yours. I don't think I would enjoy it NEARLY as much if Maslany wasn't so wonderful at making me forget it was herself she was interacting with.

Lego Movie I, like everyone, had heard nothing but good things, and, as for almost everyone, it lived up to and possibly exceeded my expectations. Some of the emotional beats were a little eye-rolly for me, but that's forgivable as it's a kid's movie (that's also poking some fun at those very beats). I noticed many

I have a picture with him pretending to eat the side of my head! And a video of the dance contest circle. And I went to an after party at which he apparently kicked in a door because someone allegedly stole his coat. (I only heard about this last thing, unfortunately did not witness it.) Good show.

My roommate broke up with her BF last night and for Christmas he bought them tickets to see St Vincent in Chicago in April (an overly optimistic plan I knew was probably doomed from the beginning, since when he bought them they'd been dating like 2 months), and he's letting her have the tickets, so it looks like I get

I have a Friday off at the end of February called Cabin Fever Friday and was expressing the desire to get out of town that weekend, when one of my coworkers told me about a documentary film festival in Columbia, Missouri (about 4 hours away from Iowa-dwelling me) that happens to be that weekend. I told a couple
