I'm all shook down.

And it also gets to the point why The Last Waltz doesn't belong on this list. The article's assertion that it's "both a biography and a perfect portrait of the group at its peak" is horseshit.

From someone who saw the first Star Wars when it came out (I was eleven) and lived through it as a member of the target demographic for the first run of the movies, you're wrong in a surprising way: Star Wars was not "absolutely massive from 1977-1983." At least not in the way you're thinking.

A big hell yeah to My Tutor, Will my man!

I got Murmur soon after it was released thanks to a glowing review in Rolling Stone and it being on sale at the Record Bar in the Oaks Mall. Took it home and listened to it and said, "what the fuck is that?" I didn't like it at all. I guess it's hard to understand how completely different REM sounded in 83. Like a

But it pours.

Fuckin' A right. Subterranean Jungle, man! That and Murmur were/are the soundtrack to 1983 for me.

Night Flight + LSD = Funfunfun

I was 17 when MTV became the "Thriller" channel and posed the eternal question:  "Holy fuck can't you people talk about anything else???"

Yep, the good ole California delta. Where the mighty California empties into the sea…

I'm confused. Where's Skip Stephenson and Sarah Purcell??

I saw those too @avclub-6b4a9e228208a5008088d8ad6e1b3dd7:disqus  complete with blast radii. I was floored at the time by how many some cities would actually get. Jacksonville (NAS Jacksonville, Mayport Naval Base, Cecil Field and St. Mary's Trident Base) was down for something like 10 warheads.

I lived an hour away.

I'm just funnin' you, ya mook. I'm familiar with the record, and the fact that Dickinson was very disappointed it never saw the light of day. In fact, it led me to dream of Tommy playing with Luther and Cody one day.

Gary's had that boner for a long time.
