There's also the subtle call-back of having Walt make a video tape for his daughter, like he does in the first scene of the first episode. I'm constantly impressed by how this show down-plays it's smart, writerly moments.

Brother-In-Law
Does anyone else feel like the brother-in-law is an intentional Vic Mackey spoof? In fact, I can almost see Walt as a perp in one of those Shield episodes where everyone's suprised that the boring guy committed a crime rather than the obvious suspect.
