In general I agree. For example it always bothers me when people complain about Wendy's hysteria in The Shining, because that always seemed to me to be a pretty believable reaction to one's spouse suddenly becoming violently crazy and oneself having nowhere to run. And hell, she ends up being pretty resourceful.

Actually though I do like Argento's movies. They're so dreamlike and surreal that logical motivation never really feels like a factor anyhow.

Regarding unbelievable behavior in horror films, I'm genuinely pretty tolerant with horror because I like the genre. Jamie Lee Curtis doesn't turn on any lights as she walks through the house in Halloween? It's all good— I can see fine from (I suppose) moonlight through all the windows, so I'm sure she's fine too.…

i would add also the dreams in Fire Walk With Me and Mulholland Dr. Lynch is one of the few directors who get dreams right.

I love the narration in Terrence Malick's movies, particularly Days of Heaven. Ditto the Wilder-penned Double Indemnity and Sunset Boulevard. Possibly the best use of narration I've seen is in A Clockwork Orange, or in Chris Marker's La Jetee and Sans Soleil.
