My guess on the Professor Challenger story JRD discovered: "The Land of Mist", Conan Doyle's defense of Spiritualism, chock full of Strawman arguments and characters acting completely out of character. The only redeeming quality about it is that Doyle didn't make it a Sherlock Holmes novel.
