From the interviews I've seen/read, Lynch doesn't come off as intellectually-elitist or snobby; rather, I think that some of his fans are that way. Lynch says that whatever we decide to make of his films are entirely valid, but that hasn't stopped wannabe know-it-alls from trying to come up with secretive "true

You're tearing me apart, movie theater audience!
I was disappointed at the omission of numerous sex scenes with the girls in the theater. How else are we going to get an updated glimpse of Wisseau crack?

Amen. Seriously, everyone they showed the trailer to had a "positive response"? Looks like a piece of by-the-numbers comedy crap to me.

A Suburb Of Kansas City: Oh, sorry, I forgot this was the internet, where things like politely expressing one's opinion and having a civil debate are considered obnoxious.

Donald: I don't believe that the "idealization of life" was brought up as an inherent flaw of the film, but rather to point out how, in the context of other rape-revenge films, Irreversible's story is fairly "generic".

I love it (read: I don't love it at all) when someone offers a reasonable and moderate critique of a piece of art and then someone else comes along and says 'you just don't understand it' without making any efforts to explain or clarify their position.

@Robuttnik - you should have claimed your misspelling was an attempt at irony. Then you would have seemed oh so very with-it.

I'm glad I'm not the only person to be bothered by the apparent jiggle. It always seemed like the Scott Pilgrim mythos drew from games that were a bit more innocent than that. Either that or the old cartridges just didn't have the memory to handle that much animation…

    @Bill
Well, yeah, insofar as Scott himself is quite self-centered and, until the end of the story, believes that he can do no wrong. The sixth volume of the graphic novel is mostly about Scott coming to the realization that he isn't the knight in shining armor he thought he was in relation to Knives, Kim, and Envy.

I agree with Spongebath and company that the problems have to do with the source material. It's not as much of a problem in the graphic novels, since you only need to digest a relatively small part of the plot in each volume and there are cues to indicate the passage of time (several months). The episodic nature of

"If Mal wants to wake Cobb up so bad, why doesn't she just murder him in the face? "

The "religious overtones" here are more just setting than message. Religion is a theme here, but it doesn't have much to do with what, if anything, this film is trying to "say".

    But who will play
    Xenu?

    Twilight: Dark Shadows
Who's going to play the werewolf love-interest to compete with Barnabas for Helena Bonham Carter's affections?

    You heard me.

"'cause he wrote that shitty song, yo. "

It sounds more like NIN than most of what's on the radio these days, but most of what's on the radio these days is formulaic market-pop. Is sounding like NIN really much of a criticism? Would we complain that Thom Yorke's solo album had too much of a "Radiohead" vibe to it? Yeah, Trent Reznor does have some

Since when was Nick Cave a people?

Don't forget the BIG dopey God-hats of those malest-o-riffic Catholics!
