Yes but those are exceptions, not the rule. It seems like now more funny people are willing to cross groups and create funny stuff outside the boundaries of what they're neccesarily known for, and it's in that spirit of collaboration that I think many more good-funny things have been made. All of the best stuff of the

The 90s did have The Larry Sanders Show, so that's something. It just seems to me, in comparison, the aughts are kind of a golden age. Arrested Development, both The Offices, 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Extras, East Bound and Down, Flight of the Conchords, the movies are better, the sketch shows have all kind of

"at of" should be "a lot of"

I like Mr. Show too but it's wildly uneven. I think even the most venerated sketch shows are by their very nature uneven. Monty Python is not absolutely perfect, and even the "glory days" of SNL is hit miss. I like at of the performers in these shows (Kids in the Hall excluded), but these shows aren't the best

No just Hitler's Birthday and Marijuana Price-Inflation day.

"Thank god you're here, grandma's been raped!"

I need a catchphrase!
I liked it. It's even more self-referential than Arreseted Development, and parts are very funny ("Can I get a flashback?"), but I think it'll take some getting used to. It's rather wierd for a show on FOX, and the whole animated forground, real life background thing'll take some adjusting to. I

I think…
…that Role Models was what finally did it. It was the first actual hit that any of them had been involved in.

Do do do do do
That episode of "Strangers With Candy" has my favorite opening of any of them. The one take, the surprise of the exchange, and the out of nowhere lift up to the lightbulb is perfect and exemplifies why the show is great.

Well yeah, obviously. It's on screen for like half a second, and if you pause it's the fakest looking thing ever, but good to know my suspicions were correct.

The Chicago
Was it just me or did the establishing shot of the theater where the Kids Choice Awards were held (which in the was called The Ater Theater, yukk yukk) look an awful lot like the Chicago Theatre?

That's So Rabin
"I found it on the whole a little underwhelming."
That's what she said.

This is the second episode.
Of course we didn't get to know Leslie's mother very well in this episode, because it's the SECOND EPISODE. As this is a series and not a self-contained 20.5 minute show, characters are introduced and then expanded upon later.

Little Room
Watching the clip below and The Stripes themselves mention liking this review. It's about 3:45 in.

Soulthland
Since C. Thomas Howell is in this, it gives me an excuse (not that I need one) to share this lovely trailer for one his films, "Soul Man." It's black-face in the 1980s goodness!

The Shoot Kiss Bay
I have mixed feelings about Bay, but I geniunely enjoyed The Rock and The Island, and Bad Boys 2 has its charms aswell. I haven't seen Transformers and I don't plan to, but one thing I've gleamed from all of Bay's work is that these movies seem to actually be an expression of his tastes and ideas

I'm Fucking In
I just hope we'll get some more David Gordon Green goodness. That seems likely too since Green will be directing McBride in "Your Highness" next. Having said that though, Jody Hill definitely stepped his game up in the last episode (and Observe and Report) and the Adam McKay episode was pretty

President Obama
See when they said President Obama, you're like "wha? I thought this was the future!" and then they're all like, yeah SHE'S going to be with her sister and sick dad in Chicago, and then you're all like "OH! IT WAS THE DAUGHTER OF THIS OBAMA, SO SHE'S THE PRESIDENT IN THE FUTURE!"

That's rough.
Even in a domestic abuse PSA I'm in awe of the cinema of Joe Wright.

Deltron 3030
…is the shit. Nothing touches that album, and Del has never been better. I listened to the for months over and over when I found it in high school. One of the great undervalued hip hop albums.
