If you're an adult who has met so few great conversationalist women that you're going on the internet to lament it, have you considered that maybe you're the problem? I'm not saying this just to be bitchy, I've just found that generally great conversations take two to be great, and maybe you're not really upholding

Depends on what status the song has in the "Prometheus" world - if it's become a standard, if there's been a recent popular cover of it, etc.

Dance Monkey Boy - There ain't nothin' wrong with that.

Does that mean that right now you look like a thin Val Kilmer?

I agree that interesting people shouldn't be smacked down merely for challenging the status quo. That certainly is a thing that happens, I just don't think that's what's happening in this case. That stupid rape joke/comparison IS the status quo. Every frat boy on the planet uses it to describe his latest Halo game.

I guess I don't understand why "Incredibly talented artist" has anything to do with what public behavior is considered to be okay.

.

I have to say, for me it went into really creepy territory. Troy's behavior seemed extremely out of character to me. I know it's a sitcom, but for whatever reason his plan just struck me as horrifying and nauseating because of what it implied about his mental state.

If that's a hipster thing, what do you call that thing where people are all "Someone has a different opinion than me on a piece of entertainment! This can't be a genuine response, they must be liars or posers or have a personality flaw because my preferences are objective fact!"

Dwight Kashrut - "He's being hyperbolic, obviously, but underneath the sarcasm he's saying that watching this show get dumbed down and changed in the hands of someone else is really upsetting."

"He's literally making light of rape."

"If you're going to make a rape joke, it had better not trivialize the reality of rape in service of saying that you didn't fully enjoy a piece of pop culture" seems more accurate to me.

Greyhound -  "If certain scary, painful experiences aren't to be joked about under any circumstances, then what's the point of comedy? Humor is a defense; "

Yeah, I think everyone gets that it's exaggeration for comedic effect. That doesn't make the rape analogy okay.

CinnaLightning - "So I don't think it's outrageous that a drunk guy would go to that place off the top of his head."
I've been around a lot of drunk guys in my life. Drunk guys who routinely make jokes in poor taste, too. Not a single one of them has gone to that place, off the top of his head or not. Ever. That is not

No one has ever thought Tosh was actually calling for five men to literally get up and rape the woman. That has never been the issue. There's plenty of material on this out there, so make with Oswalt's example and go re-read it. This time don't be hidebound by your (I'm guessing willful) misunderstanding of people's

Wad VanDerTurf - That's true, but your situation is nothing like what Oswalt describes. It sounds like you hadn't really thought about it, listened to your girlfriend when she talked about it, and considered her points thoughtfully. You didn't tell her she's lying because you don't want to rape her. You didn't then go

"In spite of what revisionist commenters who blast S3 say in order to defend S4,"

Cutlass12 - It is so confusing! But I hadn't noticed them using older models of electronics. Good call. That actually makes me want to watch more of it to see if that goes anywhere.

Super Karate - It's true that Lucille had many racist lines in the original series, and like I said, they were hilarious. They just weren't the vast majority of her lines. Keeping them fairly sparing made them startling and shocking. Having her spew constant racism just got old fast. And like Cutlass12 says, it
