I agree with that. Some of the dialogue on IJWMPB made me eyeroll for sure, but I could usually get past it and still enjoy watching. While with Girls I feel like 85% of the dialogue was stolen from my life.

The backlash wasn't even about there being a female showrunner or any such aspects. People mainly just thought it was going to suck because it had an awful premise.

Todd also seems to forget that I Just Want My Pants Back didn't face the same criticisms as Girls because it didn't have the same problems. I'd also look at Mindy Kaling's new show. I don't even think the pilot is out yet and it's already receiving great buzz and positive feedback.

Another reviewer trying to make way too much out of the backlash against Girls. It really wasn't the first show to face that. Every season new shows come out and every season a few shows face huge expectations.
