Haha, well, it's kind of true. I certainly was like "Stop crying and just smoke the fucking pot, god" and "JUST LOSE YOUR VIRGINITY ALREADY!" so the awkwardness and the sheltering of the characters just angered me. I loved episodes that heavily featured Kim Kelly.

If I watch this again will I not think it's just about whiny, privileged white people being sad about things that annoy me? Because my marathon of this show ended with me playing a "whenever anyone is annoying" drinking game. I puked twice from all the alcohol.

your first two paragraphs are completely pointless to this conversation. yes, middle class Spaniards have privilege. The same privilege as middle class white Americans? No. End of that story. You're completely forgetting that social class and culture also play an important role in privilege.

*Sorry. Not all Spaniards are people of colour. That's ridiculosho. Verdad.

"to me to label the colonialists as an oppressed group who need to be fairly represented on American television in ways that other European ethnicities do not.", but see, Penelope Cruz's mother was a hairdresser and her father was a mechanic, her grandmother was a gypsy. Not everyone in Spain comes from this elite

@avclub-6f518c31f6baa365f55c38d11cc349d1:disqus I never said a 1:1 representation was needed. Just any representation at all. It's not as though this is the first time SNL has done blackface-lite. Each time it happens it just stresses the need for more diversity on the cast, particularly since Maya Rudolph left. Keep

@avclub-6f518c31f6baa365f55c38d11cc349d1:disqus I know you deleted what you said, but it was emailed to me. I'd just like to say that I'm a black female from a very black neighborhood in America who's currently living in Europe and studying minority culture. I hope I no longer "reek of white knighthood"

@avclub-6f518c31f6baa365f55c38d11cc349d1:disqus I live in Europe right now and everything you're saying is so off base. Regardless, it's the fact that someone who is familiar with Hispanic culture (or who could at least do a proper Spanish accent) would be more suitable to do the impression. There's a French movie

oh come on now, @avclub-230e46d19fe78a6c8dc715659a7188d7:disqus , you're smart enough to see the difference.

OMG IT'S THE 1960'S. THERE ARE RACIAL THINGS.

Haha, I thought it was real, definitely thought Don was capable of it, and imagined Roger puking after trying to move the body. I just went "Well, if that's where they wanna take it. I think we can replace the phrase 'jumping the shark' now."

Yes, I'm sure her and Kate McKinnon's cultures are nearly synonymous.

You're right. The only benefit of adding a woman of color would be to fill a quota. They simply couldn't add anything else to the show. I mean, women are barely funny as it is! Let alone women of color!

when you hire a white actress when people are already complaining about the lack of diversity on your show and then you have her act like a woman of color, it just highlights the huge gaping hole in your cast even more.

"I'M HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH THE PRESIDENT" is the new "YOUR BROTHER IS STANDING IN AFGHANISTAN!"

Hey, Grey's Anatomy has been in top shape this season. In the quiet, when no one was watching, everyone looked at what was happening and realized they were being idiots and just completely changed the course of the show.

I think this is Shonda's "Studio 60". So heavy-handed, so overly dramatic. None of the levity and comedy that made Grey's work back in its early days. It's just awful people with god complexes doing awful things. I thought this might surprise me like Revenge, but it didn't.

But it wasn't a quote from "The Wire" because Dukie was never shot by the PoPo (or anyone) down in the vacants. I was just sad because it was so close to being a Wire quote. Why didn't they just go with **SPOILER**  something about Wallace, it's close enough.

This review is off on a lot of things. I didn't think the "Sorkinesque repartee" was just about Studio 60, Sorkin's style is familiar in all of his works, plus he has a new show coming out that follows the Studio 60/Sports Night style. Also, a lot of shows have used the "character has minor surgery, life is altered"

They're actually drunk. The amount of times they show them vomiting on camera is proof enough for me.
