TALKING POINTS

You know this is fiction, because in the second episode - the inmates are laughing at a Dane Cook movie.

I don't understand the appeal of staying in that motel. I mean, don't you think the 198th victim would've said, "You know, sleeping in my car will suffice," after seeing the victim tally?

Oh okay. Last time I vajazzle while simultaneously watching Teen Wolf.

Have you seen her impression of Ellen DeGeneres? To quote Chris Traeger: "It is LITERALLY the best thing ever!" (Which may be misquoted - I haven't seen a Parks and Rec ep in awhile)

-Danny gets a backstory?! Maybe next season we'll learn his last name?
-Why was the hotel toying with Isaac, Ethan, Scott, and Boyd? Didn't it need three suicide-sacrifices? I guess maybe, so there could be an alternate if worst case scenario?

Holland Roden's eyes must get so dry.

I half-expected Stiles to inject his coins into the snack machine after Boyd hulk-smashed it.

I think The Walking Dead also has credence for the "Anyone Can Die" trope.

I remember Ecce Mono from a Weekend Update sketch on SNL, where Kate McKinnon played Cecilia Gimenez.

As a gay person, I am enjoying the amount of homoeroticism. This show is competing with Teen Wolf with the sheer amount of queerness afoot. Tonight, we got Alcide shirtless, Jason shirtless, Jason/Ben shaving scene, Sam ass, and a Ben shirtless/ass combo. And this is the post-Alan Ball era people.

Also, the Eric/Talbot scene in Season 3.

Talking Points

This may seem a little off the beaten track, but does anyone know when the Skins specials will air in the States?

I agree. Not to say it's not working. I used ephemeral in a sentence a couple of days ago. Maybe MTV is on to something here with the shirtless eyecandy and upper-tier vocabulary…

When Stiles was reading off the SAT vocabulary words to Scott, I finally got the use of the word "anachronism" - which nodded at the format of the episode. I haven't had an "a-ha" moment of this magnitude since I realized why "The Santa Clause" was spelled the way it's spelled.

I enjoyed the fact that Danny and Ethan's budding friendship earned some screentime. Although, according to the previews, it looks like their friendship will blossom into sexy times. Since this post is already picking up the gay aspects of this show, it leads me to…

I wasn't a big fan of the jigsaw puzzle schtick of the episode. "In media res" works well when, in the beginning, we see characters doing things they normally wouldn't do. The flashbacks function to explain the motivations for the out of character actions. For example, we didn't need to see how Allison gets to point A

What's so innovative about this show is how it has built in bathroom breaks for the viewer. I think, most people know them as Quinn subplots?

It would've been cool if the Japanese scientist was the bitter co-founder of TruBlood, who didn't receive credit for the partnership. As the review notes, True Blood isn't the best when it comes to character motivation. And also, the show has some unifying theme this week with taking people beyond their will.
