To be fair, the whole point of the triathlon and things like that is pacing yourself at a high speed for a while. In track, everyone can run that fast but they prefer not to actually run at that pace because then they'll be too tired to kick when they need to or they'll burn out and it becomes more of a crapshoot.…

If I was an Olympic athlete I would be so bad at those vague platitudes. I'm already bad at small talk and I despise the idea of patriotism. I'd probably break and say, "I don't care about the USA, I'm just doing it for me! And my mom."
