It really is a sweet song. I always found the pathos so endearing. That three song stretch that ends side 1 of For the Roses is my favorite Joni Mitchell.

My mom was born in La Puente, and most of her family is still out there. This is the one time I'll ever see La Puente on the internet. Probably the same for Norwalk.
This is a great mix. Of course Darnielle knows proper cassettiquette..The For Carnation track is the revelation in the middle and he picked my favorite

Yikes on Salo. Went to see the Decameron in LA and missed it, but they still had tickets for the second feature- some little film called Salo. Sounds kinda interesting…
I probably could've stayed through it, but my date couldn't. We were probably the 15th people to leave.

For me it often comes down to era. If you're listening to modern music, it may in fact be an aesthetic choice, but listening to pretty much anything pre 1990 should be done on vinyl, I've listened to the digital Beatles Mono reissues 100 times, but I'll be damned if I didn't notice other sounds coming out of the mono

The first color that ever blew my mind was the first Holy Molar 7". It was this bright clear blue color- I'd already seen so many crazy colors on Locust and Le Shok singles, but never had a color so thoroughly pierces and enticed me.
My favorite colored vinyl is probably my Elvis Costello My Funny Valentine 45 on red,

@facebook-1618440466:disqus It's arguable that the same lexiconning you speak of has bewitched bros, douchebags, and screamo kids as well, but we'd be here all night!
As someone who has probably been a bro, a douchebag, an emo kid, and/or a hipster at various times, it's all semantic. We're all a bunch of louses.

I was just listening to Ice-T talk about the Belz on CBB, and commented about The Groove Tube earlier this morning. Everything's coming up Belzer!

It was once upon a time, although I think they've gone the way of Clothestime. There was one in just about every mall in Orange County, usually next to the Millers Outpost. I have to imagine they made it up to LA/Pasadena area as well..
My friends and I indeed had many a formative experience at the Westminster Mall

@avclub-16db446cafb1ffb1466e71eaf97a4f49:disqus  Groove Tube gets the win for introducing me to Curtis Mayfield AND Boobies!
Parents- lock your VHS tapes up tight! If your kid ever thinks to fast forward past Apocalypse Now (Boring!) he's going to see what else you taped off of HBO and it'll quickly turn into a rite of
