Still haven't heard the new El-P, but I'm stoked on getting back on track with these two. Each of their last efforts left me cold, but I'm hoping to jump this train and see where it takes me!

I don't remember seeing any Weiss reviews previously, but I thought he did a good job this morning. I've fallen off with a lot of current rap, and when I read some of the hyperbolic hyperventilations over the new stuff, I just get disillusioned. I find myself checking the name and adding it to the "grain of salt"

Are fans of Aesop Rock making caca-faces at an elaborately encrypted overly-wordy review? The ironing is delicious!

I saw them at Pitchfork in 2006 (The plane ticket was for Os Mutantes, but Burma was the sweet sweet icing!) and they were phenomenal! They did the classic "where were all of you 15 years ago?" I can't remember who else was playing at the time, but it was thin enough to get to the front. Academy Fight Song never

A Ray of Hope! Production complaints usually mean I'll like it, especially if the offense is mud or clutter. (Is that taste or years of home-recording?) Your input gave me the last push- to the record store!

I think Obliterati blew us all way, even moreso than OnoffOn. Those first thumps and chords, that lumbering Dinosaur stomp..it not only updated, but reinvigorated. It was in and out of step with the times, and it sounded wonderful. I think I've been afraid of their output since- the "you're blowing it!" principle. But

I stayed reluctant post-Obliterati, because it just fit too well. I still haven't heard their last one- I've grabbed it every time I've gone to Amoeba,, but when I would do my "what am I REALLY buying" it would never make the final cut. I think my fears were essentially what this review is: pretty good, but..
I will
