This comment is so great I can't even make fun of it.

I'm so glad AV Club implemented this new comments system!

Frame and Canvas is maybe their most solid lp, but it is very much their later streamlined sound- check out Movie Music vol. 1- a chronological collection of their 7 inches:

Strawberry Ann Switzerland for sure! As good as Frame and Canvas is, it's much more of a streamlined rock than the sprawling emo that first knocked me off my feet all those years ago. I'll always prefer the 7inches collected on Movie Music Vol. 1, and Strawberry Ann encapsulates so many things that I love about them.

Right?!? Hip-Hop's still evolving and innovating? Says who?? I remember Pitchfork reviewed a Mike Ladd/Infesticons record recently and it was like 'remember that?' Underground vs. Jiggy was such a line in the sand and that shit doesn't even exist anymore! Battles were already waged- most everyone went home. Def Jux is

The thing about sublime
is that they were such a good mix of influences. I suppose they'll go down culturally as the frat-bridge spanning Dave Matthews Band to Limp Bizkit, but for a minute they were so good. I was a kid who grew up in Orange County, loved SST Punk, loved hip-hop, loved reggae. Brad had a great voice,

Seconding Raleigh- Robbin is probably Sublime's best! It sums up the scattered aesthetic that made them so popular in the first place- hip-hop and improv sampler jams and dubs and peter tosh covers and the acoustic ditties THEN the ska/punk songs they recorded for epitaph. When the frat dudes have long washed away,

Goddamn I was about to say that! I realize how often I reference that snickering old man's response and don't know exactly how to feel..

I suppose my two cents should've gone here!
Mad love goes to For the Roses- the only album where it feels like she's talking to me.

I could never really get down with this album..give me For the Roses or even Court & Spark anyday of the week over Blue! I never understood what all the praise was for on this one- it's always left me cold. The personal reflection isn't there for me like it is on Lesson in Survival, which hits me hard every time (we

gets me every time..
I decided today that I will ctrl-f every article to find what starz doesn't know about this week. One of the more pointless bits I've come across, but my favorite since Horsefellow (whom I miss dearly).

I LOVED Water & Solutions in high school, but when I went to play it for the lil miss (who admitted to a deftones crush way back when) I thought it was HORRIBLE! It sounds so tainted with that late 90s Ross Robinson sheen, I really was surprised to find out it didn't hold up for me at all!

I would definitely put capn in as grandfather to a lot of the midwestern stuff. Didn't Friction (Bob Nanna's first band) rip their "I'm dying to tell you I'm Dying," or was it the other way around?
When I was getting deep into this stuff back in the late 90s Jade Tree's Reissue was held up on high like emo Red Sea

It's so gross to see this stuff mentioned here. I know it's a generational thing, but I'm only 26!
Bastardized Pop-Punk! Not Emo!

Back in the Napster/AudioGalaxy/Epitonic days, I would always see those bands referred to as Post-Hardcore, and I always thought that was so misleading! Those bands always got lumped in with Emo when I thought they were so obviously pop-punk..although not in the so-cal skate sense..

This is the best page ever. I never comment on these boards, but seeing all this namedropping was making my head spin!

Its been a long time
but seeing the hangover over this weekend will be the first time I've gone out to the movies in a long time. I can't wait!!!
