I recently read a review that called ST:TMP "2001 for Dummies." I thought it was apt (and I really like the first ST movie).

Honestly, I loved the prologue (it was previously published as a standalone short story) and found the rest of the book a bit tedious…and it seemed to be one that was right up my alley in terms of theme and approach. I really need to give it another go one day.

Absolutely. If record stores still existed, and if they paid a good wage with benefits, I'd still be in it. I still say Strawberries was the best job I ever had.
For a second I thought the attribution read "Jane Goodall." I was kind of confuzzled for a bit.
I have a bunch of their '90s album because for some reason the dude from Epitaph who called record stores in our region every week to see how their titles were selling liked me (I was always bored on the mornings he'd call so we'd chat a lot) and sent me free discs on the regular.
I'd play Billy Joel around you incessantly.
I have around 2400 in my collection…I was employed in record retail for much of the '90s. One day I really want to do a purge like this…I like having physical albums and CDs still sound amazing, but yeah, there are plenty I haven't given a thought in over a decade.
No need to feel bad for not thinking the Beatles are the be-all, end-all of pop/rock. I completely agree with you. I respect them a ton and they produced more than their share of out-and-out classics (and as a bass player, I just can't ignore McCartney's beautiful playing), but I can't stand people who just proclaim…
