I am guessing he meant he had trouble putting passion and personal view on it it.  Anyway I always especially liked him as the Player King in Hamlet.

Michael Bay ruined my childhood.  No wait, I'm thinking of my mother.  Yeah, that makes more sense.

There's nothing really in the ending of Taxi Driver to suggest it's not real other than the audience not liking what's happening.

I too like the movie but I took the ending to mean Terry Gilliam just plain doesn't like his audience very much.

My problem with Starship Troopers was that being dumb seemed to be it's only purpose.  Or to be less of a jerk about it, RoboCop and Total Recall are both incredible and satisfying on their own without having to keep on saying, "But it's supposed to be dumb because it's satire."

Yeah, I never thought of the ending as all that ambiguous..  I figured it was pretty certain he was caught.
