I don't see much "vehement dislike of hippie culture" in Schulz's strips at all - going through Fanta's complete Peanuts, the only real direct reference to hippie culture is the "hippie bird" who befriends Snoopy, and who is later revealed to be Woodstock, a character that Schulz has enormous affection for.
