FF9 was kinda of a throwback to the older games. It had FMV cut scenes, and pre-rendered backgrounds but a lot of it was back-to-basics stuff and it's one of my favorites.
Any FF after 9, I have had a hard time getting into, and I've finished none of them from X on.

I've had Persona 4 for my Vita for months now and I'm still struggling to get into it. I'm at the point where I go to the Midnight Channel at the store and rescue people but it's not holding my attention.
