What did I miss?  SyFy has money now?  What did they do to get it that could be worse than what they've already done?

Many people have said the "power corrupts" quote since it was made by someone at least a thousand years ago.  And I've never heard authorship of it attributed to Churchill.

"Knowing" a stretch of time be it the past or the future doesn't really do you a damn bit of good?

30 Rock running gag about narcissism and rights clearances.  Totally fine not to know.

Since I'd be more interested in the Carole King part than the Mitchell or Simon parts, this sounds ok so far.

Nikita is not cancelled yet.  It certainly would be already if the rest of CW's shows weren't so weak in the ratings, but not just yet.  And yes, if it catches on in death and starts getting covered here, I will be embittered and rudely dismissive of newbies.  WTF are you even watching at 8:00?

How was McConaughey *not* a stripper?  When it was age-appropriate, I mean, which it's not so much now.  I bet he was.

OK, I'll ask you.  Why ask for extra features from an app that's already fucking us sideways?

Good thoughts, perspective, thanks.  I think that being a financier of a movie tends to give you more say on content than just a license bureaucrat, but I guess we'll see.

SarCCastro can't follow a line of reasoning. Does anyone else want to talk about the odds on Chinese censorship?

So far, as I said, it's no skin off me.  But what if there was a story that you cared about, that got stuck in that part of the mill, because, for instance, it didn't adhere to proper values?

I don't think I like this trend.  I don't care about the Iron Man movies, or this Looper that you can read a bit about by clicking, but the addition of Communist Party approval to the stew of what goes into big Hollywood movies doesn't seem good.

Tasha and Keith.  That was a bad topical question.  Thus all the squashed and running all over the place replies.

That's a good distinction, but I think they've been conflated since the beginning of the speculative fiction genre.  The type of society turns into what they think the revealed man is.

Oryx and Crake is a bit of a misfire, IMO, compared to most of her scifi, but the sequel Year of the Flood is much better, and as olivecile says, there's an expectation of a third.

Excuse me, whataworkout, but this is one of the few ways for me to reply to SimonArk through the sophisticated software we have here.

I've looked at the Hugo voting rules, and I'm not following your reasoning.  Explain.

Hilburn = stopped clock that's right twice a day.  At least by the time I started reading him, but maybe he was better in the 80s.

Consider the possibility that you're stupid.  I think about it all the time.  It seems cleansing.

Jay S.  I didn't know about that until just now.  And that's awesome about your show. Congrats and hugs.  Still would prefer not dying over resurrection.
