If this film was in Cantonese, nobody would be complaining about the ending. With its easily discernible good and bad guys, its sniffles-inducing sentimentality, and nigh-unstoppable-but-ultimately-mortal motherfucker (no relation) in a suit, Man On Fire was a love letter from Scott to the Hong Kong shoot-'em-up.

My abiding memory of that movie is Harry Dean Stanton tying the string tight across the sub on the surface, and scaring the crap out of the newbie when the sub dives, and the string goes horrifyingly slack. Also, Grammer was in it, but mostly it's Harry.
