The thing is, I like both! Yet as a Farscape newbie I'll confess that after watching an episode of TNG, even a good entertaining one, at best I want to think about it a bit. With Farscape, after episode I feel like going "AAAAAH!!!" And then watching it again! So yeah, consider me hooked.

I'm not sure I can come up with a good sci fi example, but I think they're more mercenary than anything else. Other worlds pay them to conquer/enslave/whatever, and they have no problem doing so. The Feds without prime directive seems more like the Alliance from Firefly by design.

True! Here they just trust the audience do believe in the tech in the context of the universe they've created, and it works beautifully.

I love it too (and have since very early on, the chemistry is just so good!). I wish I had more thoughtful things to say about it, but I mostly just really, really enjoy watching them together!

Nice point that she's halfway through Aeryn's arc. What makes Gilina sympathetic (but also a weaker person than Aeryn) is that she just wants to fulfill her romantic idea of running away with the cute alien, while Aeryn has ended up developing an independent code of what's important to her. Maybe Gilina would get

Seeing Chiana in the peacekeeper makeup back on Moya (where I think it looked most obvious/cool) made my brain run circles trying to figure out how the makeup artists did it. I am a little nerdily curious for the behind the scenes!

Thank you for mentioning the super uncomfortable rape-y scene with Chiana and Rygel! I like that the show goes to more challenging places than other sci fi, but it did kind of bug me that his sexual assault was played for laughs.

As soon as Gilina showed up again, I knew she'd be toast, and I agree that it's a little weird she left them, then came back, etc. A little unnecessarily complicated. And I also kind of wish she didn't have a death scene (Stark giving her the memory saved it, but the rest was a little hokey considering the 2 hours of

Didn't notice that until you pointed it out, but definitely true! It does add something to the character.

Thank you guys for being so protective of newbies - it makes me like posting here even more!

Chiana's lie to Gilina was so cold that I was surprised she actually headed back to Moya with the cure for Aeryn - I expected her to just get the hell out of dodge.

I LOVED the opening scene to Nerve, and watched it a few times over! Like you say, it's just excellent at using choreography and chemistry to make Crichton and Aeryn's personalities and relationship beautifully clear. Really awesome.

That's what happens when all your leaders are basically academics: conferences become the biggest security threats!

That's what's great about Bashir (and DS9 in general): he grows up, matures, and changes over the course of the series, just like an actual person would. Bashir goes from being a dumb arrogant kid (and don't we all know those?) into a lovely (and crush worthy!) adult.

And IMO, this one is way more fun to watch!

"Tabula rasa like Riker on Risa at the end of a week-long bender"

When I first watched the scene where they drag the real Julian into the cell (thus revealing the changeling as, well, a changeling), I was viewing it on Netflix alone in my apartment and I still let out an audible yell of shock and glee. It was the single most fun experience I've had watching a tv show. I love this

These two episodes were SO, SO GREAT. I wanted to watch them again as soon as I'd seen them!

I like how each dimension (and the journey between them) has a well-defined logic that the characters (well, Crichton mostly) follow - the tape recorder to get from blue to yellow universe, for example. It makes it flow so well.

I agree about Larroq and Aeryn. I bought this a lot more readily than Crichton and Gellina in PK Tech girl, just because what Larroq was offering is so obviously enticing to her - wasn't she awaiting a transfer to special ops (or whatever the Black Ghosts are) before she was irreversibly contaminated?
