it's not the stress - its the pronunciation of the y. in the original latin (tyrannus), it would be pronounced how we pronounce "tyranny." why "tyrant" is pronounced how it is probably boils down to whatever time or region the word was first absorbed into english. tyrannosaurus sounds right both ways.

as an MA in linguistics (yeah, i know - sorry), this is correct - English is fucked up. on the other hand, the way Louie responded to his daughter, saying "I'm not correcting you — this is just how most people say it" or something to that effect, was really refreshing and exactly how people should address "errors" or

a Bugs-ian “Bub”? I think you're confusing Bugs Bunny with the Wolverine.

Like he says both? or there is an outtake or bonus material or what? As far as I know, my DVD only says "rabies"

I agree. I'm not a big fan of latter-day Simpsons to begin with, but I've continued watching the show with an open mind throughout its long run. This is the first season that I've ever been so angry with. I totally agree with the good eps you single out, but the majority of the season felt like it was for children.

I loved his impression of a vaudeville comedian when he was trying to stop Hodgman from committing Abed"

Yeah, everything great about the legacy of the Simpsons was perfectly summed up by Homer riding up the side of a glass dome on a motorbike with a bomb. That's exactly what this show was always about - think I will go watch it again.

he's thinking about bees again…

Not to debate the realism of a show in which you can slide down an Antarctica cliff in your t-shirt surrounded by penguins without dying of hypothermia, but it's pretty likely that somebody's phone is going to allow international roaming calls via satellite (and likewise unlikely that fudge poured beneath one panel in

Yeah, I withdraw my argument too. Just using the music wasn't "desperate" — I just watched those segments again. The Hot Chip montage was actually pretty fun. It is a new musical direction for the show though, and it still strikes me as odd. The Antarctica thing did bother me, esp. b/c the way they end up there is
