Both were brilliant this year. The big Dr. Armond reveal was pure brilliance, and the bit where Louie takes a shit in his pants after looking for a public bathroom to no avail was a masterful return to the simpler set pieces of seasons one and two.

Thanks for that endorsement Mr. Fowler; I've eyed this on my Netflix browser a few times in the last few weeks, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Based on your other show interests, I think I'll give it a whirl.
Agreed, and has any other movie/show ever been as successful at mixing modern music elements in a period setting? The score is brilliant, and manages the almost impossible task of not sticking out in contrast to the 19th century visuals.
I was initially disappointed when I realized that episode 5 was a behind-the-scenes doc (I seriously watched like the first three minutes fully expecting it to turn into a mockumentary about the making of). But agreed, once I adjusted to the tonal shift, episode 5 was wonderfully witty and warm. I'm glad the cast…
Also, brilliance does not always have to come in dramady form. The Eric Andre Show, Off The Air, and Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell are easily some of the most anticipated shows popping up in my DVR queue every season.
FINALLY! Someone throws down some love for Married. I was beginning to think I had simply hallucinated the show and all of its brilliant performances. I remember thinking about two or three episodes in, "Man, the quality on display here looks like something produced for HBO or Showtime… Is anyone else seeing this?"…
For the win!
Agreed Nancy Drew; the motivation is the draw here, and so far, just one episode in, I'm hooked already. I feel like I've known a lot of guys like Bergdahl in my own life - guys who listen to Rush while staying up too late to play board games with their tiny circle of friends… thoughtful loners who quietly analyze the…
I don't think you're alone, although I may be the only person in North America who enjoyed Funny People, or at least based on the savage reviews.
I don't know. Thought he was pretty darn good in Everybody Hates Chris.
Don't forget the occasional odd-ball cameo from Christopher Walken.
You know, funny thing about McFarlane is I like him in movies, despite the fact that Family Guy is about the most insipid piece of American pop-culture to come out of the last 20 years. The rant he goes on in the saloon (about the miners who can't taste anything and the dead mayor in the street who no one bothers to…
Not all single-use kitchen gadgets are created equal. My local Walmart sells a hot dog slicer (aimed at moms with toddlers I presume). It's just a plastic wiener dog wearing a chef's hat that has a cavity running the length of his back. Pre-cut notches along the length of it allow you to cut the hot dog into 1/4 inch…
I thought Javier Bardem was the hands down favorite like literally two weeks ago?!
And really AVClub? We're really editing comments now? smh
That totally sounds like something the Wu-Tang would do, but I'm sure there was all sorts of legal language tied up in the purchase contract that prevents just such a stunt. "This ain't Trading Places n**ga! Protect Yo Goddamn Neck!!"
While that does sound like something WuTang would do, there was probably all sorts of legal language tied up in the purchase agreement barring just such a stunt. This ain't Trading Places Nigga! This is REAL FUCKING LIFE!! Protect Yo Neck!
