David Strathairn is so far above the average Syfy actor in terms of prestige and talent that you wonder how exactly they got him on this show.
 
Was it something like: Syfy exec- Aw shit, Xander Berkley just got snapped up for another season by Haven. Guess will have to go for our backup, David Strathairn.

It's like that "keeping up with the Cardassians" joke. You'd think someone would have made it ages ago, so you don't bother… and then you miss your chance.

When Lou was reading his letter the closed captioning stated that it said something like "P.S. don't let Franco bang Janet"
