Also, Quadrophenia is bomb, and I think it probably even holds together as an album better, but man, Tommy was just earth shattering to me.

I disagree. I think the father needs to have killed the lover, not the other way around. it adds such a rich layer to the story. In the movie, the lover is just a bastard, and that's pretty much the end of it. Keeping the father around makes it a story about the pressure we put on our family, and the pressure they put
