I remember this movie came out when I was a kid (mid 80s) and my mom and other adults I know all saw it and spoke of it in hushed tones (and she wouldn't let me watch it - i was like 7, lol) … it was kind of like that with Baby Boomers for a lot of Vietnam war movies I think.
