Huh. I Loved It.
It might help to go into it not knowing his stand-up stuff so well. I'm a fan of The State, Stella, Michael and Michael Have Issues and Wet Hot American Summer, but never bothered to check out that stand-up record. And I actually thought this was a mostly great deconstruction of modern novels and

That's what happened in the episode of Fringe that aired in the alternate universe last night.

Still, "Sometimes I feel so happy/Sometimes I feel so sad/Sometimes I feel so happy/But mostly you just make me mad." That sure sounds like our Peter and Olivia.

This was actually one of my favorite episodes in this very strong season. And the reason for that, quite simply, is that I was moved by it. Which is something that Fringe isn't regularly capable of. I also thought that the dialogue had a more lived-in quality than usual. Details like the "Coin toss" conversation or

To me, Lifted is his best album. And I'm not really sure there are any other serious contenders. So I'm with you, Frank. Also, was that your son I saw lighting hundreds in a bar in front of a bunch of working stiffs?

Agreed, Shoulder. Monsters of Folk was a strong record, especially the Jim James and Conor Oberst-led songs. Particularly "Temazcal." And my favorite song on that self-titled thing is probably "Lenders In The Temple."

Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea is my favorite with Is This Desire a close second, but I've liked every one of her records. Can't wait to hear the new one.

I actually really like Cassadaga. Lifted will probably always be my favorite, but Cassadaga might be my second favorite.

It had high highs and low lows. Same goes for "Outer South." I've pretty much loved every Bright Eyes release though.

I loved Worst Week, so I'm glad that dude has a new show.

Megavideo has it. They break the law. Just Google search "American Idol Megavideo."

Agreed. And isn't that dude super gay? I didn't buy it from the beginning.

The Editors
Could American Idol be the best edited show on television? When they paused on Matthew Scott Frankel Produc Tions to let him finish, I laughed like a madman.

Toasty!

I remember the final episode of season seven of Curb got an A+. And an episode of American Idol got one ironically once.

Dude. You can't tell me that you think Embryonic or At War With The Mystics or Zaireeka or anything they recorded prior to Transmissions From The Satellite Heart are anywhere near the same league as any of the three Arcade Fire. The ambition has always been there, but they just don't have the same sense of song-craft

The Decemberists album was okay. Kind of unmemorable. Better than the Cold War Kids record, yeah. Sure. But only because of that weird Kings of Leon-ization of their sound.

Who Gives A Shit?
Woody Allen and Roman Polanski are still two of the best filmmakers ever. I don't care about what they do in their sick bedrooms. Similarly, the Arcade Fire is one of the best bands in the world (and were mind-blowingly incredible when I saw them at MSG over the summer). If Win Butler is a dick-head,

The Arcade Fire is a much, much better band than the Flaming Lips. They each have three good albums. But the Arcade Fire only have three albums total.

Still A Fan For Now
I really liked Robbers and Cowards and Loyalty to Loyalty grew on me a lot after a few listens. I saw them live recently and they played the new songs in the style of their early stuff. It's mostly the production on this new record that sucks. About half of the songs are actually pretty good. I
