@avclub-945ba977c27d196cdeaf6cbe4ff682f4:disqus Yes. So much of B5 seems so goddamn naive. I seem to remember (in my semi-cognizant state) other posters commenting in previous weeks on JMS's changed political views in his more recent writing. Can said posters offer any insight into his changed (if any) views on

Yeah, I suppose the question is how closely the text of B5 adheres to JMS's actual views of epistemology and the universe. Is he not putting forward his own (non)-belief in service of certain story beats?

Disclaimer 1: A bit drunk. Sorry if I offend anyone (although not that sorry).
Disclaimer 2: I myself am an atheist.

What are you gonna do, blow up the board?

@Rocketpilot:disqus Strongly agreed on the lack of an Iain Banks obituary (or even a mention of his death). Quite frankly, what the flying fuck is wrong with them?

The narcissism of this is really quite astounding. Just… wow.

Yes I'm sure there was a medical team with Star Trek level medical technology just waiting off camera to save Catelyn in the couple of minutes she has left before her brain dies from lack of oxygen.

Nothing with Bruce Spence in it can be the worst of anything.

SPOILERS

The infrequent use of magical trappings in Farscape is really the shows oddest and must misguided element (IMO). The entire rest of the show is filled with pretty standard, if stylised, sci-fi elements which makes the occasional example of real magic stand out even more. And I get the impression the shows creators

Ditto, I love the idea that televised B5 as we know it was a highly simplified version of more complex events.

I don't know if anyone else if like this, but I really have no desire to revisit earlier episodes of GoT. The main thing I get out of the show is really just a vapid "I have to know what happens next" kinda thing. I mean, I enjoy the show quite a bit, I enjoy most of the performances, all the worldbuilding and all

@avclub-fe0181fa11124a8385473ce0f639460a:disqus Put me down for team Stannis as well. Seems to have something resembling a conscience and isn't a complete idiot. Although he seems to let his ego get the better of him sometimes.

The attitude you refer to is really quite alien to me. I just can't imagine approaching my consumption of fiction in such an (and I know this is kind of inflammatory) infantile manner. It's like they view a narrative as a box of toys, and now that 3 of their favorite (*snicker*) toys have been removed they're going to

Huh? In what way do "having it coming" and "deserving it" not have exactly the same meaning?

@avclub-152d284f09f019baf5bd08e6f41dd2d4:disqus I dunno, Stannis doesn't read as fundie zealot at all to me. The only reason he gives any credence to his religion is because of things he has personally seen. He's not operating on blind faith and shows signs that he recognises the conflict between his pre-existing

@avclub-d0afe12655aee19d7225146067e91d19:disqus What? I haven't read the books at all. I was simply commenting on what I've seen of Stannis thus far on the show.

You're right, I don't believe this.

Eh, I wouldn't say Tywin is Marlo. I'd say either Littlefinger or Bolton is Marlo. Maybe Tywin is the Greek?
