Double-failed firstie! Oh the humanity!

Sophie's Choice
I saw this for the first time recently. That Streep's character might ever have a romantic thought about Peter MacNicol ruined the whole film for me - I just couldn't imagine the possibility of her finding him attractive.

Er….Ms. Applegate sadly hasn't much to offer in the area of apples. Yeesh,

All due respect….

(I'm talking about John, btw, not Jim Belushi.)

CJC +1, and what, we're too fuckin' cool around here to give Belushi his due? Belushi was the greatest cast member ever of SNL. Yup, he couldn't do impersonations, etc., but it was the sheer force of his personality that created that sense of "Holy shit, they've given the keys to TV to one of us!" that made SNL ever

Speaking of Crumb…
how about a gateway to Crumb? The guy's output is MASSIVE and collected and recollected in confusing ways. Plus he's had such a long and varied career in so many styles….how 'bout it?

"If the Dolls sounded as good as they looked"…yup them and Milli Vaniili.

@Lobsters- Handsome Dick Manitoba? Of course I've heard them. I've heard them all.

And please, what is the fucking deal with the New York Dolls? Can someone tell me why anyone ever gave a shit about them? God they are absolutely the worst no talent garbage, fronted by a truly no talent bastard with a godawful Mick Jagger impersonation. Is it because they wore women's clothes? Is that it???

Shame on us
that a bunch of guys looking like that ever provoked anything but laughter and derision.

Rip it up…
is an absolutely encyclopedic account of the post-punk movement, essential reading for anyone interested in that era.

We are the Knights who say, "Not back on it, Joe. Still on it."

@Jordo - "but it's not like Flans is just some guy following him around."

This is the weirdest nerdier thread EVER - people don't know if they should be quoting Python or TMBG - a nerdgasm.

@Chivo - I'd say that among fans there is nothing against either John, but if you pay attention you may notice that you prefer the songs that one has written (the one he sings) over the other, and that in fact Linnell is the better songwriter/musician of the two, and Flans is the better frontman/spokesman/driving

Yup they were in their FORTIES when they made their FIRST movie. Think about that!!!!

And two hard boiled eggs!

Antisemitism!
