I think Tarantino was completely aware that people may roll their eyes at seeing him in the film. Hence the ridiculous and unnecessary Australian accent. And ultimately the quick satisfaction in seeing him leave the screen in such a laughably violent way.

New Girl started out like that for me. Now it is my clear favorite. The cast and dialogue are outstanding and you can really feel the show coming into its own. Its goofy and sharp at the same time.
