Can't win 'em all. I Bet On Sky actually took quite a few listens to grow on me. I'm used to Dino Jr just blowing me away in the first 5 seconds (Bug, Beyond, Farm), and IBOS, for all its merits, doesn't do that.

Weird confession: I've never enjoyed a Grizzly Bear record front to back. I absolutely love 3 or 4 songs on each of their albums and am bored stiff by the rest, and Shields was par for the course in that regard.

I really enjoy the Japandroids record while I'm listening to it, but it doesn't stick in my head like the Sleigh Bells or Fang Island do. Just my particular taste.

Oh, I'm not implying that any of these are undeserving. Frank Ocean was very high on my personal list, somewhere above this comment. Just saying that these seem to be universally 'agreeable' albums.

To my surprise, I actually thought the Rowland-featuring Mama Told Me is better, mostly because Yukimi's delivery of the hook sounds detached to me. To each their own!
