I disagree. Gianforte has an 'R' next to his name, so Paul Ryan is happy he won. And I think the last 24 hours have proved that Republicans will accept a lot of toxicity if it means they win and get to remain in control. Gianforte could poison all of the reporters at his first press conference in D.C.; Ryan wouldn't

Isn't this what everyone wants? You've got what looks like the clear best team going against the only team that appears to have a chance against them. (Maybe the Spurs would have had a chance, too, if Kawhi hadn't gotten hurt.) These two teams have split the last two Finals. And both rosters are clustered with

I think you mean Montenegro. And Trump's behavior today was simply a national embarrassment.

The reaction from much of the right to that, and the fact that Gianforte won the election tonight, is depressing to me. I know nothing about the reaction or the election result is unexpected or any sort of new low — all you have to do is remember the most recent presidential election — but it still sucks. Those people

My mom took my sister and me to see Empire Strikes Back in 1980. I don't know why. My sister was 7 and I was 5. My parents had immigrated to the United States in 1974 and didn't immediately dive into American popular culture, so none of us had seen Star Wars in 1977. Yet somehow Star Wars was that big a thing that it

The Fourth Circuit used to be one of the more conservative circuit courts, but it's actually a fairly liberal court these days. Obama managed to appoint six judges there. (Also, I hate to be that guy, but it's Chief Judge, not Chief Justice. Only the Supremes are Justices.)

He was the drummer for Petty and the Heartbreakers when they appeared on SNL at some point when all of this was happening, in the mid-'90s.

Excellent album. I don't think I'll ever get tired of Everlong. But there are plenty of other good tracks, too — one of which, Walking After You, isn't even mentioned in this article.

Good luck. Also: The more ghee or butter you add, the better your lentils will taste.

Indian person here. I should warn you that I'm not much of a cook. But I'm not sure Patak's curry paste is what you want for lentils. I think their curry paste is just meant to be one element in a sauce that you make. They also sell simmer sauces, which you use by dumping an entire jar of pre-made sauce onto whatever

Five-day weekend, with no obligations. I hope I use it to figure out what I want my next job to be, and to take steps towards getting it. Because I am bored to the point of misery in my current one.

My current favorite commercial (for some car company, I think) uses "America" as a family goes on a trip across the country after somebody's grandfather dies. I should be immune to the manipulative effects of advertising by now, but that one gets me. And the lovely song helps.

Yeah, I did notice that they stuck out like a sore thumb there.

Jimi Hendrix, "The Wind Cries Mary"
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, "American Girl"
CCR, "Have You Ever Seen The Rain"
The Temptations, "I Wish It Would Rain"
Sam Cooke, "Bring It On Home To Me"
Otis Redding, "Chained and Bound"
Stevie Wonder, "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)"
Everclear, "I Will Buy You A New Life"

FRANK: Check out this chart. You see, as artificial representations of humans become more and more realistic, they reach a point where they stop being endearing and become creepy.
TRACY: Tell it to me in Star Wars.
FRANK: All right. We like R2-D2 [points to “industrial robot”] and C-3PO [“humanoid robot”].
TRACY:

So is he better than Beethoven? He has his own bubblegum card!

Oh, and "Blue Sky," by the Allman Brothers.

It's impossible for me to pick a favorite, and so many great ones have already been mentioned, but here are a few others I love — among dozens more — that I haven't seen mentioned (although I haven't gone through every comment):

None of what is happening makes any sense. (I should keep that sentence handy.)

Call it a double standard, a star system, or whatever, but they'd never fire Hannity for something like this. He makes them too much money. He's surely already done and said many things on air that would justify firing him. They'll only do that if he loses his audience for some reason and his ratings plummet. But they
