Every episode was a hostage episode.

The telemarketing-boss-is-a-bug episode was definitely the one I was looking for here. That was the most terrifying  thing I've ever seen on metwork TV. Corner of your eye? That still messes me up. On the upside, I feel more sympathy for telemarketers now.

I agree…It stayed funny from start to finish, even after the reveal.

I come to A.V. Club for one reason, and it's not to validate my own opinions of pop culture, or to find out whether a new movie is worth seeing or not. I come here to experience good writing, from both the staff and the commenters. These reviews are simply not up to the standards a lot of people have come to expect

All of the battle-of-the-bands songs in both "School of Rock" and "Bandslam" were better than expected. And "School of Rock" itself was, I think, perfect.

I have an unnatural love of Bandslam, and the sappy-ass piano ballad wasn't bad, as sappy-ass piano ballads go. But you're right. The fact that not one but TWO bands decided on that song was just ridiculous.

I'm not saying that Purple Rain was a bad song. In fact, I think it's fantastic. But was it so much better than The Beautiful Ones or Let's Go Crazy or Computer Blue or Darling Nikki that it had that club owner doing his own slow-mo Brady Nod in the back of the house? "Yes, THAT'S what I was talking about! The Kid
