Well they remade this show for the 2000s and it was awful. It didn't have the piercing feeling that you felt you walked the line between cynicism and cautious optimism the original did. Political unrest still exists, but the same type of fear that existed in the early 60s is gone.

Would this show have been great if not for the political atmosphere and fear of annihilation going on at the time?

I always thought the Shelter was one of the most scariest episodes in the Twilight Zone canon. Mainly because it was the most plausible. When the chips are down and we are in the face of a cataclysmic event, what do our priorities become?  While you're right about the ending (I've always hated sermonizing) it holds up…

Fahrenheit 9/11 is overrated. You want to watch a great film, watch Errol Morris' The Fog of War.

The Terminator 2 reference had me laugh so hard! Only Tina could be attached to something like leg hair or a mechanical shark.

Bart's villianesque response always makes me laugh.

I love how the explorers who deliver ice to Apu's have no clue how to make ice that doesn't get half of their crew killed.
