I started college the same year Gilmore Girls went on the air (OLDNESS).  I remember the application process being about 50/50.  There were paper forms I had to fill out, but my essays were obviously typed, for example.  My acceptance letter to UD was, in fact, a letter.  Yay! :)

Lorelai bagging on the bully moms' similar style choices (re: milquetoast) is one of my favorite moments of the series.  I don't usually advocate picking on appearances, but Lorelai chose the right thing to say and the right time to say it.

I sympathize with the job stress (much as I can, anyway).  You get into this groove where it's like work starts feeling like your whole life, and it's difficult to find a balance.  Print media is tough because a) yes, you are lucky to be doing it if it's what you love but b) it never stops.  I never put in the hours…
