Dream Theater used to be pretty sweet. Images & Words, Awake, and Metropolis 2 have some awesome heavy songs on them. Train of Thought is also a very solid, heavy album. But they got waaaay too into the Disney operatic ballad shit, which James LaBrie for no good reason gets hard for.
