Boots are tricky, but when they work they work wonders.  My legs are long and mostly thigh, and I have a long taper from my ankles to calves so I can wear boots comfortably.  I only have one pair I can wear over jeans, and they are a suede with a wedge heel.  The pointy toes make them look sleek.
