Barenaked Ladies are damn near impossible to hate.  They seem like nice enough guys where people take it personally if some smarmy DJ tried to attack them.  It's like somebody picking on your little brother.

It would be interesting to know what kind of bump Torme's catalog got in sales when 'Night Court' was on.  He actually was pretty good, and I think Harry Anderson was sincerely a fan.

How about Loudon Wainwright?  They had him as a smartass singin' doctor on MASH for a couple of episodes, and it was great.  For whatever reason, they killed it after about five episodes or so.  It was when Henry Blake was still CO.

Hootie and the Blowfish:  favorite band of every frat-douche in the mid-90s.  Hard to see why anyone liked them in the first place.

Depends.  They became less of a biker-band and more jazz-influenced and polished in the late 70s.  As I understand it, when Tom Johnston had health issues they brought in Michael McDonald, who helped to make that transition.
