And I halped!

As I mentioned, I take it case by case, although I obviously understand drawing conclusions from previous instances. In Sansa's case, I need to see how the plot plays out before making my judgment, but I'm not sure I agree with 'earned,' or if I do, we maybe have different standards. Everything that happened seemed

That's fair, assuming there are examples to back them up. (I can think of a few myself without much effort.) I guess I tend to look at them case-by-case, maybe not to my credit. For example, yes, Jaime "saved" Brienne. But a) that was at least semi-realistic, given the numbers involved, and b) Brienne is pretty

For what it's worth, I didn't agree with THAT argument against this depiction of sexual violence either. If the storyteller wants to examine its effect on Theon, that doesn't mean the storyteller is saying that's the only way to examine sexual violence. It's just the story they're choosing to tell right now.
To be

This is the part I missed during the initial controversy. I completely respect anyone who wants the depiction of rape to examine things like that. But I don't understand why a storyteller can't decide to depict it essentially as a thing that logically would follow from events to that point, if the storyteller wants

I bet you have a point, and I just am not smart enough to discern what it is

'The Gift' was that Sand Snake's boobs, and it was given to us, am I ri— *strangled-by-mob noises*

I do believe I enjoyed Cersei's last scene last night more than I enjoyed Joffrey's.

You are really good at being wrong. Running a play that follows the rules is not bending the rules. I'm sure the Wells quote you cited was for some reason known to you, at least; all it did for me was remind me that Wells said there was no reasonable way to think the ballguy was joking, which is probably true if

This comment alone made this post worthwhile. I've read this comment like six times now and I still can't stop laughing.

Most likeable character on Deadwood

I agree with gesundheit on this, but I felt that made for fascinating TV, but not a fascinating character. The kid who highjacked the cars was more fun to watch. But not every one in the game should have had the personality of Cheese or Bodie or D'Angelo.

Cotton Dockers!

Ugh. The author whiffed. The joke was "silent (partner) liquidity."

Beady Eye music, mate

I haven't enjoyed the last couple so much, and it even took the last couple to make me give Action Pact another chance. But then again, I've enjoyed each New Pornographers and Brendan Benson record less than the last, and the same is probably even true of Jason Falkner, so maybe don't go by me.

But is not Oasis the greatest British band since the Beatles? Can
we not vote on this?!

I watched that in the late afternoon, also alone. I got the fuck out of the apartment and failed to adequately shoot baskets until it got dark and I was sure a roommate would be back.

Let us not forget the time they turned Josie into a goddamn knob on the drawer of a night table. I'm not saying choose that episode over the series finale, I'm just saying let's not forget it, as if we ever could.

I 'discovered' Elliott and GbV during the same trip to a record store, where I bought Figure 8 and Alien Lanes. I'll really put that up against anybody as the most productive haul ever. To this day, Figure 8 is my favorite disc of his, and Alien Lanes is in the running for GbV; I probably can't convincingly argue it's
