I love The Lavender Hill Mob. Smart, well paced and good fun. All the others are well done too, but that one just goes down smooth.

Kate Mara gets entirely too much crap on here, I don't get it. Have people only seen her in House of Cards? She's been good in most of the things I've seen her in. If people haven't seen Transsiberian, I'd certainly recommend it.
I'd say The Spirit ranks far higher on the embarrassing things Samuel L. Jackson has done scale.

Wow, between Sherilyn Fenn, Elizabeth McGovern, Theresa Russell, Lea Thompson, Elisabeth Shue, Virginia Madsen and Nancy Allen it's as if Random Roles has access to my teenage mind. If Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jennifer Connelly and Diane Lane join the list I'm going to assume these interviews are a figment of my…
I actually stumbled across Meridian recently for the first time since I was a teenager and the thing that most stood out (aside from Sherilyn Fenn's beauty and the guy in beast costume sex) was how the fairly brief sex scenes were stretched out to amusing lengths by the use of slow motion. I swear they added about 4…
Though I completely disagree with them about the film I really liked the "New Nightmare" episode and the Craven impressions. I'd echo the "Tuff Turf" and "Freejack" love as well, and add "Cat People". Oh, and after this week, hopefully someone recommends some Peter Falk movies for listener request month. Disappointed…
I just saw that episode for the first time in years not too long ago. It holds up incredibly well.
I was genuinely bummed that "Simon & Simon" Adult Swim thing Jon Hamm and Adam Scott did failed to recreate a season that Tim Reid was on.
They say this is a discussion about a classic tv episode, but I'm fairly certain this roundtable was designed to send anybody over 25 into a deep state of depression about their impending death. Not only is WKRP old, not only are sitcoms from the 80's old, but sitcoms from the 90's are old too?
The first one I recall seeing in school was Who Framed Roger Rabbit in the 3rd grade. I remember some of the innuendo making the teachers so nervous they stopped it somewhere before it ended and started showing All Dogs Go to Heaven. I also vividly remember some girl non-jokingly recommend they show Sea of Love…
Totally agreed. Excellent films with great atmosphere. Well worth the price.
I'm simply trying to understand the logic of remaking a show that I don't think many people either know of or remember and that doesn't hold up well because I'm fairly certain the whole point of remaking something like this is the notion that having the title brings some semblance of value to the project, and I don't…
Bryan Cranston was in like a half-dozen episodes too I think before he got Malcolm in the Middle.
Yeah, I've found he could be effective when he was a supporting player and his role was to be an imposing heavy or red herring while the actual plot revolved around others, but rarely did he ever bring any signs of a recognizable personality to a role.
I'm not sure I've ever come across a duller show than the original Ironside. It's almost as if the entire main cast was told to never display any signs of human emotion. Why they'd choose to remake that show is beyond me. Is there really a ton of value in the name?
Totally agree with you about John Dahl. I thought Kill Me Again was excellent too, though not quite as good as the two you mention.
Thanks for reminding me about Croupier. One of those movies that I've been meaning to check out for years and somehow have never gotten to.
I don't know, she did get a SAG nomination for Wings of the Dove and I think was generally considered a good young actress. Her resume post-nom, even in the 2 or 3 years directly after, is so bare I'm going to have to assume she passed on opportunities for whatever reason while her name was hot.
Sounds like it is very close to getting a distributor. Looking forward to it.
