Can I just say I liked this review and, in particular, the idea that worst aspect of your show could be that the showrunners just don't understand how great their material is? Because I feel like that happens waaaay more often than you might think, particularly in basic cable.

From the actual NPR article I don't think he did. I can't think of a more appropriate situation to use the 'he was taken out of context' defense, much as I hate to use it at all.

I would guess that Mr. Freeman is trying to emphasize that mixed race is an identity worthy of recognition in its own right, but perhaps I'm being too generous.
