I'd classify Codeine as a REEEEEEEEALY slowcore band; they were like watching a glacier melt.

I'm literally a day late to this party, so this comment will probably never be addressed, but as one of those geographically challenged Americans, what the hell is the deal with Wales?

Seriously? That's what you're going with?

Ah, I see. Well, I'm OK with that. Good luck to you.

Uh… what?

I'll give you that, but the point is was one of the most repetitive, least interesting scenes I can remember.

Holy crap, agreed. It was the only time I can remember being scared at a show, not by the crowd, but by the band. The volume and intensity were so overwhelming it was sort of like standing on a beach and watching a huge, black tidal wave form in front of you.

Yeah, I'd agree with you there. Ferment was a great album that pretty much got swept under the rug. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time; they got tagged on to the very tail end of the whole Madchester scene, which was a) pretty much over and b) they really had nothing to do with. It was a shame.

Madchester: The Doors' "Peace Frog." Change lyrics. Play 5,000 times. The end.

Oh my, smuggy indeed. Well, I think the one implied caveat on message boards is that the comments are opinions; that was mine. No need to get so upset, kid.

And do we call our fellow commenters idiots, CBB? No, we do not; on this board, we "agree to disagree." We think CBB has learned from his mistake, but if we have a repeat of this behavior, there's going to be a timeout over in Comics Panel for you, young man.

No, they don't fix everything, but they certainly don't hurt, and there are plenty of people in this world who have endured far worse, have far less, but don't squander their entire lives in some tragicomic fantasyland.

Oh for god's sake, Fiona, you're young, rich, drop-dead gorgeous and have extraordinary talent — can you stop being miserable for 10 goddamn minutes already?

Well, "Peace Frog" was the basis for the entire Madchester scene.

Glass of water — with white bread on the side for dippin'!

Pitbull is still working on the rapping. He's got the sunglass-wearing pretty much down, though.

Ah, I see what you did there. Well done. (Golf claps.)

Nah, rock's just fine. There's plenty of great rock being made; there's just none being bought. Pretty much everyone older that 10 and younger than 50 downloads 95 percent of their music. Sales and charts are absolutely meaningless in 2011.

D'ja ever notice how the kids are calling their music all kinds of crazy things these days? Why back in my day, we had rock and roll, and ya know what? It was good enough for an entire generation. Here's a CD that has some kind of music called "grindcore." What's a grindcore? Sounds like some kind of kitchen tool.

I listen to hip-hop all the time, and I've never heard a Lil Wayne single. I just download what I want. And Lil Wayne ain't it.
